Second Hand Electric Bikes

Because of the power you can achieve on an electric bike, there are a few rules and regulations that need to be considered. By law, the maximum power output of the electric motor cannot exceed 200 watts. Electric bikes are not allowed to weigh more than 40kg and you need to be 14 years old to ride an electric bike on public roads. However, you can ride an e-bike anywhere that you would be able to ride a conventional bike, and the same safety recommendations apply.
Electric bikes have a typical speed of around 15mph, but obviously with legwork and fast pedalling, higher speeds are possible. They are best suited to stop-start conditions, such as travelling around urban routes.
Two measurements are important when looking at purchasing second hand electric bikes. The capacity of the battery is measured in amp hours. Obviously, the higher the number the further you will be able to travel on a single battery charge. The voltage of the bike is limited in the UK by law. Most electric bikes have a similar voltage in this country. It's worth bearing in mind that the more powerful the motor is, the sooner the charge will be used up. Some second hand electric bikes will enable you to travel as far as 50 miles on a single charge, but charging is relatively simple as you can you can just use a conventional household socket.
As well as being eco-friendly, used electric bikes are very cheap to run and they come with a range of settings and modes. If storage is an issue, folding electric bikes are available. Some electric bikes also come with a suspension fork - these are ideal for riding on paths and tracks.
